Nowadays, Butch and Wendy stay busy with a construction based business, but every chance they get, they plan trips afield or to a lake or river, not letting any grass grow under their feet.Both are Pro-staff members for Horton Mfg. who produce and sell the finest quality crossbows and other assorted equipment, Muzzy Broadheads who manufacture and sell quality broadheads, gamecalls, and bow-fishing equipment.They invite you to check out the links listed on this website. They are also members of the Exotic Wildlife Association, and the National and Alamo chapter of Safari Club International.
Now, understandably, they are competition with each other. What better match than to use the same equipment, in the same hunting areas at the same time? During these years of competition, they have won several top 5 awards in the SCI record book, and the Exotic Wildlife Associations' Trophy Game Records of the World Record book. Along with these awards, they have also managed to take home the major yearly awards of Crossbow Hunter of the Year award in 2005, 2006 and 2007, Huntress of the Year in 2005, and North American Hunter of the Year award 2007. They started professionally outfitting and guiding the Cedar Canyon Ranch 5 years ago, so on top
of those awards listed, between them they also hold several Outfitter and Guide awards given out on a yearly basis. Wendy has also won a division 5 out of 7 years in the Trophy Game Records of the Worlds' Big Buck Contest, and their grandson Phoenix, won the youth crossbow division this past season with the help of his Grandpa Butch as his guide.
Besides chasing whitetail deer, Axis deer and Sika deer at the Cedar Canyon Ranch, they often visit other hunting ranches all over the world.
What better way to continue to learn than to visit another outfit or ranch as a client and learn different techniques, and ideas? The Cedar Canyon Ranch also has a division located in Utopia Texas that offers trophy whitetail hunts on 650 acres of rugged terrain. So if you’re interested in a big boy, tell us and we'll tell you what we've seen at that ranch recently. We've seen 180' class bucks there.
Butch and Wendy are hunters first, guides second. Why? Because they like it! It's certainly not for the money, it's for the adventure and the opportunity to share and teach how to enjoy the outdoors while achieving your personal goals pertaining to hunting. Making friends that are like family is a bonus, too. Who better to learn from than two very seasoned avid hunters?
If you would like to find a certain animal you would like to hunt that the Cedar Canyon ranch does not have available, they can guide you at another ranch that has offered access to them, or direct you to a ranch that they have frequented. Just ask!
